Finland’s electricity grid is set to receive a significant enhancement with the construction of the 400kV Halsua and Ullava substations, following a contract signed between domestic transmission system operator Fingrid and Caverion.
This turnkey contract, encompassing earthworks, equipment delivery, installation, and commissioning, marks a step towards bolstering Finland’s electricity transmission capacity.
The contract between Fingrid and Caverion also includes comprehensive construction and engineering works for the substations, which are set for completion between 2025 and 2027.
These substations are expected to be operational by mid-2027, contributing to the country’s transition to renewable energy sources and thereby supporting its climate objectives.

Earlier this month, Caverion entered into an agreement with Nebius DC Oy, a Finnish subsidiary of AI infrastructure provider Nebius.
This agreement, valued at approximately €80m ($89.03m), covers technical solutions for Nebius’ data centre in Mäntsälä, Finland, including cooling, heat recovery, ventilation, and fire safety systems.
Caverion stated that its expertise spans the entire life cycle of buildings, infrastructure, and industrial sites and processes, including installation, maintenance, managed services, advisory and engineering services, and digital solutions.
