SSP Group has commenced its activities in Bulgaria, debuting with a Starbucks and a Camden Food Co at Sofia International Airport.
Both are situated in the airside departures area of Terminal 2.
The collaboration with airport operator SOF Connect aims to improve the passenger experience through a series of upgrades and refurbishments.
SOF Connect CEO Jesus Caballero stated: “We are proud to mark the roll out of the airport’s new food and beverage area with the opening of a Starbucks coffee shop and Camden Food Co.
“In partnership with SSP, we have created an innovative experience to suit each passenger’s journey through the airport.
“This demonstrates our commitment to elevate the passenger experience to the highest industry standards and achieve a 5-star airport rating.”
The Starbucks coffee shop location features a design influenced by the landscapes of coffee-growing regions.
Its menu features Caramel Macchiato, Iced Café Latte and White Mocha, and its 250m² space can accommodate more than 100 patrons.
The menu at Camden Food Co includes gourmet salads, artisan sandwiches and hot and cold beverages.
The launch is part of a larger agreement between SOF Connect and SSP, which will introduce additional global brands in phases as the airport undergoes renovation.
Upcoming openings include Burger King and TGI Fridays, along with SSP concepts such as Upper Crust and Soul + Grain.
Meshana – A Taste of Bulgaria and Bar 09-27 are also set to be introduced.
SSP Eastern Europe and Middle East CEO Mark Angela stated: “Our brand line-up was created following extensive research into the needs of passengers at Vasil Levski Airport.”
In November 2024, SSP was awarded a seven-year contract to operate its first units at Vilnius Airport in Lithuania.
“SSP launches operations in Bulgaria with outlets at Sofia Airport” was originally created and published by Verdict Food Service, a GlobalData owned brand.
